½" Tape Technology: 

IBM was a key partner in developing the "Ultrium" or Linear Tape Open (LTO) standard and we are pleased to be able to offer IBM's tape media. This is a high quality, high capacity tape which started with a 100 GB native capacity and is now in its 4th generation with an amazing 800 GB native capacity backed by IBM's 5 year warranty. IBM tapes are such good value now their superior quality, perfectly matched to the IBM tape drive is just about free - call for a quote !

IBM Magstar MP Fast Access Linear Tape Cartridges are designed for use in mid-range and server based environments, their "MidPoint Load" technolgy ensures the tape is at rest exactly in the middle of the data reducing time spent spooling the tape before the data is read. Magstar MP tape offers much faster data access times whilst improving cartridge handling and data integrity, and is backed by IBM's 5 year warranty.

IBM's established ½" tapes for 3480, 3490E and 3590 drives, now include a new extended length tape (ELHP) for the 3590 which allows a massive increase in capacity per tape - so developed is this medium that during testing the tape could be substantially damaged (even to the extent of a hole being punched in it !) with no actual data loss. These tapes offer a native capacity of up to 60 GB using the latest H drive and carry a warranty of 10 years. If this is insufficient IBM have now developed its sucessor, the mighty 3592 with an incredible 1TB of native storage capacity with a lot more on the way !
